How does a downspout former work?
1 Loading
The downspout roll forming process begins with a roll of metal being fed into the machine. The web passes through a series of rollers and guides that shape the material and guide it through the forming station.
2 Roll forming process
As the material passes through the machine, it undergoes a series of bending, folding and forming operations. A roll forming station consists of sets of rollers and tools that gradually shape flat metal strips into the desired downspout profile.
3 Cutting and shearing
Once the roll forming process is complete, the continuous downspout profile is cut into individual pieces of the required length. The cutting mechanism may involve shearing, sawing, or punching, depending on the design and capabilities of the machine.
4 Final product collection
After cutting, the finished downspouts are collected and prepared for packaging or further processing. They are usually inspected for quality control purposes to ensure they meet the required specifications.
